It’s been busy busy times here at camp Goodnight. We are getting ready for two big release shows!
Firstly, Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody and Heaven have a split 7” that will officially be released on May 8th, but check our online store cause you can purchase it from there now!!! Hurry! The release is limited to 600 copies and it comes on pink vinyl! Both bands as well as other Goodnight bands KNTRLR and Lou-is will be playing the release show at Grand Victory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on May 9th. It’s going to be a night to remember!
Secondly, I really hope to have some high quality pictures up of the new Friend Roulette picture disc. It is incredibly beautiful! This disc is out May 15th and we will be opening up a pre-sale soon. The first 50 copies sold will come with a limited edition art book that is currently being put together by their vocalist and violinist, Julia Tepper. The band will be celebrating the release of this record (again) at Pianos on May 19th, get tickets here!
Also on May 19th, Goodnight Records will have a booth set up alongside other label stalwarts Kanine, Ba Da Bing, Captured tracks, Minimal Wave, Temporary residence and many more at the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair. Full details here.
And… The Big Sleep have been out there busting their asses off. The just finished a tour with Fang Island and are gearing up to hit Europe soon. Friend Roulette signs to Goodnight! 10" vinyl picture disc release show 4/5 at the Mercury Lounge!! »
Got lemons? Sure you could make boring ass lemonade, or if you are Matthew Meade and Julia Tepper you could make the most oragsmically delicious MDMA-laced lemon tart imaginable. In the summer of 2010, Matthew got hit by a bus and found himself facing 2 months of recovery without the use of one of his hands (a prickly pickle for a guitar player). But instead of catching up on the latest in day-time paternity test results and class action lawsuit commercials, he spent the time writing songs on one-handed piano with his friend and violinist Julia Tepper. The pair knew they had kindled something special and soon added John Stanesco on bass clarinet & ewi ("electronic wind instrument"), Nate Allen on bass, and Tlacael Esparza and Kyle Olson on percussion.
The band will release a 10” vinyl picture disc on Goodnight Records in May of 2012 and a full-length LP recorded by sonic warlock Paul Hogan (Frances), which will be released later this year. The band will celebrate the release of the picture disc this Thursday April 5th at the Mercury Lounge. There will only be a limited supply of the vinyl 10” available, so sharpen your elbows and be prepared to ruin a few relationships cos it’s gonna be a nasty scrum to get ahold of one of these puppies.
