about

“I believe in the good of every one of us / and when I think there’s something else / I simply try to run too fast.”

How to describe someone who would write such a lyric? A jaded optimist? A guarded dreamer? Just who are we talking about here?

Odds are you already have heard Louis Schefano. He was a member of such seminal bands as Remy Zero, Verbena and Little Red Rocket, and played drums with Sarah McLachlan, Bright Eyes, and The Ladybug Transistor. His songs have been covered by The Minders, Maria Taylor, and featured in the award winning film Pretty In the Face. As a performer he has shared bills with Of Montreal, Adam Franklin of Swervedriver and Jonathan Richmond . But that only tells part of the story.

What is most remarkable about Schefano is his work as a singularly gifted singer-songwriter. As Regia, he recorded The Art of Navigation (spinART), a spare power pop masterpiece that was the “most-added” at CMJ the week of its release. All Music Guide raved, “This is one of those albums that gets better with every play, and then follows you around all day like an imaginary friend”.

Establishing himself first in the Birmingham, AL music scene, he relocated to Brooklyn, NY, and began to perform under the name Louis, releasing the Freak Show Revenge EP (Superphonic), and a series of brilliant singles.
